Game today?

Just wondering whether there is game today.

It's looking like we're not going to have a game today. Jason's feeling under the weather, and we don't want to spread whatever he's got to the rest of the group.

While I appreciate your interest, and I don't mean to be rude, but attendance hasn't been sufficient for us to warrant having a guest to film our game.

Yeah, our game is more the size of a tabletop game than a LARP right at the moment.

Even if you don't have many people we want to come by check out your gear and even see what you guys do on a small scale. We also want you guys to be our battling extras. We would really appreciate an invite, especially that we want to make a film about the LARPing community. We don't want to show LARPing and LARPers the wrong way.

Or do any of you know where else they have LARPing?

I'm still going to pass on extending you an invitation, but if anyone can direct them to another gaming group I'd appreciate it.

Feel bad as it is turning them down so let's point them in the right direction.

One World By Night has extensive chapters in the Sacramento area. I know a couple people who play in OWBN games, and my impression is that you can pretty much pick your night, and there's LARP happening somewhere.

You also might check out http://davislarp.com/. It's been a while since I was part of the LARP scene in Davis, so I don't know if there are any games up and running over there right now, but it's a different scene than the Sacramento OWBN crowd. If you want something close to what we've got at this game, you'll find it in Davis.

Also, since I've seen the confusion come up before, I'd like to add that the groups I've pointed out above are World of Darkness, aka vampire/werewolf LARP groups, not boffer LARP groups. I don't know where to find boffer LARP in the area, although years ago, I think there was one.

His interest in seeing what gear is used, and using the group for battling extra's leads to the belief he's looking for a "boffer" larp. There are no weapon props in WoD/white wolf type larps.

I have no shame, and will admit my ignorance.

What the hell is a Boffer group? It sounds dirty, and unclean lol.

It's the larps where the players actually get dressed up in armor and fight with the foam padded swords. Think the LAIR thing they had in the movie "role models".
